The contents of the 2024 Appropriation Bill presently under consideration by the National Assembly, indicates that President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and their aides will spend a total of N15.961 billion on international and local travels.
Further breakdown of the budget shows that President Tinubu’s travel expenses amount to N7.630 billion, with a significant portion allocated to foreign trips.
If approved, N6.992 billion will be spent on foreign travels, while N638.535 million is designated for domestic trips.
On the other hand, Vice President Shettima’s travel budget totals N1.847 billion, with N1.229 billion earmarked for foreign trips and N618.399 million for local travel.
The Villa Headquarters, covering international and local travels, is allocated N6.484 billion. This includes N6.282 billion for international travels, N60.981 million for local travels for training, and N140.640 million for other local travels.
Other allocations in the 2024 federal budget for the Villa include N9 billion for the annual routine maintenance of mechanical and electrical installations, N3 billion for the construction of offices for Special Advisers and Senior Special Advisers, and N3 billion for the acquisition, renovation, rehabilitation, and furnishing of the State House Annex.
Other additional provisions include N4 billion for operational vehicles, N2 billion for SUVs, and allocations for the rehabilitation of the Animal Enclosure, Villa Ranch, and the construction of wildlife conservation.
President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima are also set to spend N5.128 billion on foodstuff, miscellaneous expenses, honorarium, refreshments, repair of fixed assets, and the acquisition of computer software in 2024.
The breakdown includes N254 million for President Tinubu’s foodstuff and N348 million for Vice President Shettima’s foodstuff and catering materials supplies, with N430 million designated for State House headquarters for similar purposes in the 2024 budget cycle.
The President is expected to spend the sum of N219 million on Miscellanious expenditure and in the same period, the Vice President would be spending N187million also on miscellanious items.
Similarly, the State House Headquarters would be spending the sum of 2,54 billion on Miscellanious in the same period.
Further breakdown of the figure shows that President Tinubu would be spending N152.4million on honorarium and sitting allowance, whereas the Vice President would be spending N67million on the same item.
For State House Headquarters, the sum of N365.8 million is budgeted for Honorarium.
The sum.of N650 million has been proposed to be spent by President on repairs and rehabilitation of fixed assets, the sum of N103million is expected to be spent by the Vice President on acquisition of computer softwares.
