The political and social circles of Lagos State are in deep mourning following the sudden death of Dr. Oluwafemi Olawale Adefulire, the only son of former Deputy Governor Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, who passed away in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, after undergoing an undisclosed surgical procedure.
The 40-year-old UK-based medical doctor reportedly died on Wednesday, December 11, 2025, sending shockwaves through the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Alimosho community, where Orelope-Adefulire is revered as “Mama Alimosho.” Family sources described the loss as “unexpected and devastating,” with the circumstances of the surgery remaining private.
Orelope-Adefulire, 65, a seasoned administrator and social worker from a royal Ijebu lineage, has not issued a public statement, but her Alimosho residence transformed into a “Mecca of mourning” Thursday, drawing hundreds of sympathizers, including political allies and APC leaders.

Lagos APC Publicity Secretary Seye Oladejo expressed the party’s heartbreak in a statement:
“It’s sadly true, the kind of tragedy every parent dreads. The APC is heartbroken. Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire is an exceptionally good person, and the entire party structure has been thrown into mourning by this huge tragedy. May his precious soul rest in peace.”
Agbado Oke-Odo LCDA Chairman Hon. Jimoh Ishola Ejigbadero was among the first to console the family, joining a growing list of visitors.
Known for her advocacy on women’s rights and poverty alleviation, she remains a key APC figure in the Southwest, eyeing potential 2027 roles amid Alimosho’s political battles.
Dr. Oluwafemi, a dedicated physician, leaves behind his immediate family and a legacy of service. Tributes poured in on social media, with #RIPDrFemiAdefulire trending. Friends described him as “kind-hearted and brilliant,” while the Orelope-Adefulire family requested privacy.
Funeral arrangements are pending, with burial expected in Ijebu-Ode per royal customs.
