In his place, Tinubu has appointed Mrs. Ronke Soyombo, a seasoned education administrator with over 30 years of experience both in Nigeria and the United Kingdom.

Before her new role, Ronke Soyombo was Senior Special Adviser on Education, Science and Technology to Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun. Other positions she had held includes, Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology (briefly, in acting capacity) and Head of both the Teaching Service Commission and Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) in Ogun State.

Soyombo has a degree in Chemistry Education from the University of Lagos, Nigeria; a Law degree from London Guildhall University and also, holds a Microsoft certificate which she earned in 1997.

She was officially presented with her appointment letter last week by Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, at a ceremony in Abuja, and she resumed duty on Monday at the TRCN headquarters.

As the new head of the TRCN, Soyombo is expected to lead reforms in the regulation, licensing, and professional development of teachers across Nigeria for a five-year term.

This decision is part of President Tinubu’s broader efforts to revamp Nigeria’s education system by placing experienced professionals in key regulatory positions.
