Alhaja Sekinat Tolanikawo Adelakun-Akande, wife of popular Fuji musician Abass Akande Obesere (Eruobodo 1), has formally declared her intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat representing Ibadan North East/South East Federal Constituency on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Adelakun made the declaration on Wednesday at St. Cyprian Primary School, Ibadan, where party members, women groups, and a large crowd of supporters gathered to witness the announcement.
Known for her strong grassroots presence and philanthropic activities, Adelakun said her decision to run was driven by a desire to bring effective representation, women’s empowerment, and meaningful development to the constituency.

She promised to focus on youth development, improved healthcare, better infrastructure, and economic opportunities for women and young people if elected. Party leaders and supporters at the event described her as a “bridge-builder” and a credible voice who understands the challenges of the people at the grassroots level.
The declaration adds a new dimension to the race for the Ibadan North East/South East federal seat ahead of the 2027 general elections, with expectations of a keenly contested APC primary.
