The Women Traders under the aegis of National Association of Nigeria Traders (NANTs), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) chapter has expressed gratitude to God for peaceful 2024 Sallah celebration in Abuja, even as they also commended the FCT Minister and the law enforcement agencies for tight security in the nation’s capital before, during and after the just concluded celebrations.

The NANTS Woman Leader Dr. Mrs Rachel Adewumi made the feeling of the traders known when he addressed Journalists in her office at the weekend.

While commending the government for ensuring religious tolerance in the FCT, she appealed to those in authority to always have the plights of the women traders at heart, saying that the women constitute about 75% of those in the business of buying and selling and contribute a lot to the economy.

The woman leader further solicited for adequate encouragement in the areas of empowerment and grants from the government, saying that it would go a long way in addressing the hardship among the citizens and improve the nation’s economy.

She equally tasked commercial banks on low interest loans.

The Woman Leader noted that high interests charged by banks on loans issued to traders, usually erode their profits and in some cases they loose at the end of everything.

This, she enjoined the government to address, for the economy to move forward.

While praising God for the peaceful celebration of the Sallah, as well as for cordial relationship between people from different religions, she noted that religious tolerance would go a long way in promoting peace and unity of purpose in the country, saying no religion preaches evil, but peace.

As the woman leader of the market Association in the FCT, Amb Rachael Adewumi informed that in the NANTs in Abuja, she had Muslims, Christians and people from other religious bodies, who, according to her, don’t discriminate against each other.
