Former Governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, has dragged the Kaduna State House of Assembly and the Kaduna State Government to the Federal High Court, Kaduna division.

El-Rufai filed the lawsuit to defend his fundamental rights in response to accusations of financial mismanagement.

Recall that El-Rufai, who served as Kaduna State Governor for eight years, is facing allegations of misappropriation of ₦432 billion from the House of Assembly.

The Assembly alleged that the mismanagement has left the state in significant financial debt.

El-Rufai’s lawyer, Abdulhakeem Mustapha, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, filed the fundamental rights suit at the Federal High Court in Kaduna on Wednesday.

El-rufai’s legal team argues that the report was compiled without giving the former governor a fair hearing, and therefore, should be declared null and void.

The lawsuit names the Kaduna State House of Assembly and the state Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice as respondents.
