The Commander Nigerian Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC), Major General Kevin Aligbe has expressed satisfaction for the performance of 286 officers of the Nigerian Army that participated in the recent Captain to Major Practical Promotion Examination (CMPPE)
The CMPPE is a dedicated exercise to assess young officers in seminal and practical areas in their professional advancement in the military.
The TRADOC Commander General Aligbe praised the officers for their sterling performance in the CMPPE and stated that the examination had a 100% success rate, with all participating officers passing.
The examination took place in two locations: in Abeokuta and in the north-east of Nigeria.
He commended the discipline and enthusiasm exhibited by the officers throughout the exercise leading up to the examination. This level of success had not been seen in a long time.
He said: “I want to say that we had a very, very fantastic exercise. The candidates conducted themselves, they showed discipline and enthusiasm all through the exercises leading up to the examination proper.”
“That is why we have the kind of result that we have, which we haven’t had in a very long time; one hundred percent pass for all the candidates, both the ones that are here in Abeokuta and the 66 other candidates who took part in the same exercise in the north-east because they could not be pulled out. So, we had in-theatre examination for them there and they also, passed.”
It will be recalled that General Aligbe, in his address to the participating officers on October 15, at the commencement of the exercise, had previously cautioned the candidates against engaging in examination malpractices and assured them of fairness in the assessment process.
The TRADOC Commander noted that the successful candidates are now eligible to continue their military careers with the opportunity to attend junior staff college courses.
He said, “they will be looking forward to their nomination to attend the junior staff college course at armed forces command and staff college, Jaji (Kaduna State), or any other corresponding course in any of our friendly countries abroad”
Furthermore, General Aligbe highlighted the significance of this achievement as a critical milestone in the career paths of the young officers.
The two weeks exercise held in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital and was hosted by the General Officer Commanding 81 Division, Nigerian Army, Major General Mohammed Usman.
Overall, the TRADOC Commander expressed that the exercise demonstrates the commitment of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja to maintaining high standards in the Nigerian Army and the recognition of the officers’ hard work and dedication in their professional development.
