At today’s hearing, January 17, 2025, the tribunal admitted all 1,004 pieces of documentary evidence presented by Dr. Ighodalo despite objections from counsel representing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and Senator Okpebholo.

The admitted documents include Certified True Copies (CTC) of INEC results forms EC8A-E and Local Government Area (LGA) summaries, which were used during the September 21, 2024, governorship election in Edo State.

Moving the application for the admission of the evidence, Lead Counsel to the petitioner, Ken Mozia(SAN) said the verification of the over 1004 documents have been duly done in the presence of the lawyers of the parties and the Registrar and therefore tendered them accordingly.

In their reaction, Counsels to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd respondents, kanu Agabi (SAN), Onyechi Ikpeazu and VC Dewigwe objected to the tendering of the documents but the Court admitted the evidence in favour of the Petitioners.

This decision to admit the evidence strengthens the petitioners’ position as they seek to substantiate their claims of irregularities or legal violations in the election process. The tribunal will proceed to consider these materials alongside oral testimonies and other evidence in determining the validity of the petition.
