The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa (retd), has reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of the Armed Forces of Nigeria to eradicate terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and all other forms of criminality threatening the nation’s peace, security, and flourishing democracy.

In a statement released on Tuesday, January 14, 2026, Gen. Oluyede—speaking in his capacity as CDS emphasised that the military will not relent until every inch of Nigerian territory is secured and citizens can live without fear.
“The Armed Forces of Nigeria remain resolute in the fight against terrorism and all forms of criminality that threaten the nation’s peace and flourishing democracy,” the CDS declared.
He highlighted ongoing multi-agency operations across the North-West, North-East, North-Central, and other flashpoint areas, including recent successes such as the rescue of 309 hostages in Kogi and Kwara states, the neutralisation of 55 terrorists, and the arrest of 129 suspects.
Gen. Oluyede commended the gallantry of troops, intelligence agencies, and local vigilante groups, while assuring Nigerians that the military is intensifying intelligence-led operations, improving troop welfare, and enhancing coordination with sister services to deliver decisive victories.
He called on citizens to continue providing credible information to security agencies, stressing that collective support is vital to ending insecurity.

The CDS also reiterated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive to eliminate all security threats and create a safe environment for economic growth, national development, and democratic consolidation.
