Silversport Nigeria Limited has officially unveiled the Sunday Igboho Super Cup, a major grassroots football tournament aimed at discovering, nurturing, and promoting young talents across Oyo State and the wider Yorubaland region.

The competition, named after and fully endorsed by prominent Yoruba activist Sunday Adeyemo (popularly known as Sunday Igboho), is designed to provide structured opportunities for young players while strengthening community ties through sports.
To ensure wide participation and smooth organisation, Oyo State has been divided into five football zones: Ibadan, Ogbomosho, Oyo, Oke-Ogun and Ibarapa.
Football clubs, academies, and independent teams from these zones are invited to register and compete at the zonal level, with top performers advancing to the state finals.

The Sunday Igboho Super Cup will also serve as a key feeder competition for the prestigious Oduduwa Football Tournament (OFT) 2026. Outstanding players discovered during the competition will be selected from each zone to form a strong Oyo State representative team for the regional championship, which is patronised by His Royal Majesty, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II.

This creates a clear talent pipeline from local grassroots level to regional and potentially national exposure.
Officials of Silversport Nigeria Limited described the Sunday Igboho Super Cup as part of the organisation’s broader commitment to grassroots football development and youth empowerment in Southwest Nigeria.

The tournament is expected to unearth raw talents, offer them proper mentorship, and open doors to professional opportunities.
The launch of the Sunday Igboho Super Cup follows the successful unveiling of the Jagunmolu Super Cup in Lagos State, which received royal endorsement from His Royal Majesty, Oba Gbolahan Akanbi Timson Jagunmolu III of Shomolu Bariga.
Both competitions form part of Silversport’s growing portfolio of youth-focused tournaments, including the flagship Oduduwa Football Tournament (OFT) 2026, the Silversport Super Cup, and other development programmes.

In a related development, Silversport recently appointed Mr. Mutiu Adepoju, MON, the former Super Eagles international, as the Official Football Ambassador for its initiatives. His role will include mentoring young players and promoting talent discovery across these tournaments.
