The development came after members of the G-60 opposition caucus stormed the chamber earlier on Thursday morning, demanding that the House leadership immediately address the minority leadership vacuum. The group had threatened to disrupt proceedings if their concerns were not resolved.
The appointment of Agbedi is seen as a strategic move to unify the opposition ranks ahead of key legislative activities in the remaining period of the 10th National Assembly.
