Speculation is surrounding Amazon founder Jeff Bezos’ reported interest in acquiring a consortium led by former Queens Park Rangers co-owner Amit Bhatia in a proposed investment in Liverpool.
While no agreement has been reached, the development of a minority stake in Liverpool has once again highlighted the growing influence of American investors in the Premier League.

Reports indicate that Bezos has been approached to join a consortium led by former Queens Park Rangers co-owner Amit Bhatia in a proposed investment in Liverpool.
While no agreement has been reached, the development has renewed attention on the growing number of Premier League clubs under American ownership.
Liverpool are currently owned by Fenway Sports Group, led by John W. Henry and Tom Werner, with the proposed deal expected to involve the sale of a minority stake rather than a full takeover.

According to a post sighted by PUNCH Online on Sky Sports Premier League on Thursday, the 2025/26 Premier League season features 10 clubs with American owners or significant American investment, making the United States the dominant source of foreign ownership in England’s top flight.
Arsenal are owned by Stan Kroenke through Kroenke Sports & Entertainment, while Aston Villa’s ownership includes American billionaire Wes Edens as part of V Sports.
Bournemouth are controlled by businessman Bill Foley, while Chelsea are jointly owned by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital following the club’s takeover in 2022.

Crystal Palace have multiple American investors, including Woody Johnson, Josh Harris and David Blitzer, while Everton are owned by Dan Friedkin through The Friedkin Group.
Fulham remain under the ownership of Shahid Khan, Leeds United are controlled by 49ers Enterprises, and Manchester United continue to be majority-owned by the Glazer family.
If Bezos joins the proposed Liverpool consortium, it would further strengthen the presence of American investors in the Premier League, although Fenway Sports Group is expected to retain overall control of the club.
