In an open letter addressed to the APC National Chairman and copied to security agencies, the group claimed that supporters of former Governor Gbenga Daniel are being harassed and prevented from participating in ward-level meetings. They accused some party executives, allegedly acting on directives from the state structure loyal to Governor Dapo Abiodun, of deliberately blocking perceived opponents.

The letter further alleged that credible intelligence reports indicate plans to mobilise thugs to voting points to intimidate members and suppress participation during the direct primary.

“More alarming are confirmed threats allegedly being issued to several of the said followers/loyalists who are bonafide registered members of the party, warning them against coming out to exercise their constitutional and democratic voting rights during the direct primary election,” the letter stated.

The group warned that the alleged actions violate the APC constitution and could undermine the credibility of the party’s internal process.

“As a stitch in time saves nine, urgent intervention is necessary to preserve peace, fairness and public confidence in the electoral process,” they added.

The concerned members called on the APC National Chairman to summon the Ogun State Chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi, and other state, local government, and ward executives to order before the situation escalates.

They also urged the Inspector General of Police, the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), the Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and other security agencies to thoroughly investigate the claims and ensure robust monitoring before, during, and after the primary.

The group further requested the deployment of “unbiased and men of proven integrity” to oversee the direct primary across the 103 wards in Ogun East.

“Mr. Chairman Sir, history and posterity will remember whatever steps you take at this critical moment. The integrity, dignity and democratic reputation of APC as the ruling party must not be sacrificed on the altar of desperation, intimidation and abuse of power,” the letter concluded.

The APC in Ogun State is yet to officially respond to the allegations. Attempts to get comments from the state party chairman and the governor’s office were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
