Armed Robbery Attack: Obaseki Intervenes, Offer Critical Aid for Victims of Sunshine Stars FC

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki has offered critical intervention to succour and provide support for the injured and traumatised players and officials of Nigeria Premier Football League side, the Sunshine Stars FC of Akure.

The Governor’s swift and compassionate response to the unfortunate incident involving Sunshine Stars FC reflects his commitment to the well-being of the people in Edo State. By promptly dispatching officials and offering to cover the medical expenses for the injured and traumatized players and officials, Governor Obaseki has demonstrated his concern for the individuals affected by the armed robbery on the team bus.

The President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau, expressed gratitude for the Governor’s kind gesture, emphasizing the commendable nature of the move. A ball boy was shot and players and other officials highly traumatised and disoriented after the team bus was attacked by armed robbers on the Ore-Benin Highway on Thursday, as the team headed to Benin City for a scheduled NPFL Match 13 tie against Bendel Insurance.

The Governor has offered to foot the bill of the medical treatment of all those involved in the unfortunate incident.
