The race for the Awujale stool of Ijebuland has taken a dramatic turn as the Fusengbuwa Ruling House, next in line after the passing of Oba Sikiru Adetona, has firmly disowned Fuji legend Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (K1 De Ultimate), declaring his lineage claim “unfounded” and his nomination form “null and void.”

In a strongly worded letter dated December 11, 2025, and a press briefing at the family’s Ile Nla headquarters in Ijebu-Ode, spokesperson Abiodun Ogidan of the Fusengbuwa Nomination Committee dismissed K1’s bid, questioning his sudden “royal awakening” after decades of absence from family affairs.

Ogidan, addressing journalists post-family meeting, stated:
“We just rose from the family meeting where all the Olori Ebi, the family heads of the Jadiara and Fusengbuwa families… And it has been confirmed by our family that from all that he (Wasiu Ayinde) has written in the family lineage data form given to him, that he is definitely not one of us in the Fusengbuwa ruling house.”

The committee, chaired by Otunba Abdulateef Owoyemi, faulted the form’s certification by one Adetayo Abayomi Oduneye, described as “neither a family head nor authorized representative” of the Jadiara Royal House. Extensive investigations, per the letter, found “no proof” of K1’s ties to Fusengbuwa or Jadiara lineages.

K1, 68, submitted his interest letter on December 3, 2025, to the Fusengbuwa head in Agunsebi Quarters, positioning himself as a “bonafide son” via the Jadiara unit. However, Ogidan noted nomination forms had closed by then, and K1 never engaged in family matters despite his Ijebu roots and title as Olori Omooba.
“How can someone who has never been part of our family meetings or supported the family in any way now suddenly wake up at the height of the glory of our family and begin to say what never happened?” Ogidan queried.

The Oduneye family echoed the rejection, with Alhaja Adesumbo Oduneye denying knowledge of Adetayo’s endorsement.

The house reaffirmed a peaceful, transparent process, scheduling the nomination meeting for Monday, December 15, at Agunsenbi Ule Nla. Candidates will be unveiled then, with prayers for a “noble, people-oriented” successor to Oba Adetona, who reigned 65 years until his July 13, 2025, passing at 90. Fusengbuwa, waiting 100 years since 1925, vows no inducements will sway elders.

Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu’s SA on Information, reacted on X: “The truth about K1’s claim has finally emerged. Ijebuland deserves better than celebrity pretenders.” K1’s camp has not responded, but supporters decry it as “gatekeeping.”

As Ijebuland home to global figures eyes its next custodian, the saga underscores the throne’s prestige and the weight of royal bloodlines.
