The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the dates for the governorship elections in Edo and Ondo States. Here are the key details:

EDO STATE GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION:

Election Date: Saturday, September 21, 2024.
Party Primaries: February 1 to February 24, 2024.
Submission of Nominated Candidates: Opens on March 4, 2024, at 9:00 am and closes on March 24, 2024, at 6:00 pm.
Final List of Candidates: To be published on April 23, 2024.
Campaign Period: Commences on April 24, 2024 and ends 24 hours before the election day on September 19, 2024.

ONDO STATE GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION:

Election Date: Saturday, November 16, 2024.
Party Primaries: April 6 to April 27, 2024.
Submission of Nominated Candidates: Opens on April 29, 2024, at 9:00 am and closes on May 20, 2024, at 6:00 pm.
Final List of Candidates: To be published on June 18, 2024.
Campaign Period: Commences on June 19, 2024 and ends 24 hours before the election day on November 14, 2024.

These election dates and timelines have been set in accordance with the provisions of the Nigerian Constitution and the Electoral Act.
