Why Did It Take Major Networks So Long to Call This Election for Trump?

The 2024 election is over. Donald J. Trump has indeed been elected the 47th president of the United States, winning with key swing states like Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Nevada, and crossing the 270 electoral vote thresholds.

This marked a significant political shift. The implication is that there is no pathway or mathematics for Kamala to be declared winner yet, liberal media and major networks were slow, dragging their feet, to announce the final call.

Donald J. Trump will be the next president, but the major networks simply refuse to accept reality, which reflects the complex media landscape of the United States presently. But many analysts thought it was time to embrace the inevitable, but CNN, MSNBC, and the other usual suspects decided to stretch the limits of sanity in trying to stave off the final election call this year.

If this is not election denialism, I don’t know what to call it. It seems the networks are shell-shocked that Trump won and that they couldn’t save Kamala and were powerless to stop MAGA movement. Truth is; these networks know their time is over. Observers say we could be witnessing the initial stages of the mainstream media implosion or retreating in their trenches to think a rapid response opposition template.

It was about 5:31 AM, CNN accepted reality and finally admitted that Donald Trump would be elected president of the United States. ABC and CBS then followed suit, several hours after Fox News had anchored their projection in favour of Trump.
.
Now, albeit, reluctantly, they’re all calling it for Trump but it was over many hours ago.
