Melaye expressed his excitement over the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court’s decision to remand Bello in the Kuje Correctional Centre on charges of money laundering. In his post, Melaye recalled his prophecy, stating:

“6 years ago, SDM predicted Yahaya Bello would end up in prison. Today, he will be spending Christmas in Kuje prison. All powers belong to God.”

The presiding judge, Justice Maryann Anenih, remanded Bello pending a bail application and adjourned the hearing of the N110 billion money laundering case brought by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to January 29 and 30 and February 25 and 27, 2024.

While this case underscores the EFCC’s ongoing efforts to hold public officials accountable for financial misconduct, on the one hand; Melaye’s public statement has enlivened discussions on social media regarding political accountability and prophetic declarations, on the other.
