A Coalition of Civil Society Organizations known as Citizen Rights Advocates has called for the immediate sack of the Consular General of Greece to Nigeria.
The Coalition made the call on Monday in a press statement signed by its Executive Director, Hammed Sa’heed which was made available to newsmen in Abuja.
According to the statement, Nigerians who visit Greece Embassy for genuine business or to process their visa are treated like criminals.
The group further explained in the statement that Nigerians are usually referred to by the Embassy which is in their own country as criminals accusing some of possessing fake documents.
The Coalition in a strongly worded statement lamented what it described as inhuman treatment meted out to Nigerians on a daily basis at the Embassy.
“They drive many Nigerians out from the Embassy as if they are common criminals and touts”.
The group, therefore, called on the Nigerian Ambassador in Greece to rise up to the situation by using his highly respected office to cause the immediate sack of the Consular from the Embassy.
The group further lamented that such negative traits if not immediately curbed could jeopardize Nigeria’s bilateral relationship with Greece.
They finally threatened to take legal steps in order to address and arrest the situation instead of allowing such to degenerate into an unbearable and irredeemable one.
