Edo Civil Society Organizations Endorse 2023 Alaghodaro Summit, Commends Obaseki’s Investment-friendly Reforms

The civil society organizations in Edo State have endorsed the 2023 Alaghodaro Summit and commended Governor Godwin Obaseki for his administration’s investment-friendly reforms.

The Alaghodaro Summit is scheduled to take place in Benin City between November 8 and 12, 2023. This year’s edition marks the anniversary of Governor Godwin Obaseki’s time in office The annual summit is a significant event in Edo State, aimed at showcasing the state’s progress and transformation.

Governor Obaseki’s administration is recognized for its transformative policies, which have created a conducive environment for businesses to thrive, attracted local and foreign investments, and improved the overall quality of life for Edo people.

The civil society groups, represented by the Edo Civil Society Coalition for Progress and Development, have pledged to actively participate in this year’s summit, demonstrating their support and appreciation for the governor’s leadership.

The theme for the 2023 Alaghodaro Summit is “The Edo Story: Creating Shared Opportunities into the Future.”

The summit is organized by the private sector in Edo State and aims to showcase the state’s reforms, investment initiatives, and strategic alliances that have contributed to its transformation into an industrial hub.

The endorsement and support of civil society organizations underscore the positive impact of Governor Obaseki’s leadership and the importance of the Alaghodaro Summit in highlighting the state’s progress and future opportunities.

Leader of the civil society groups under the aegis of Edo Civil Society Coalition for Progress and Development, Monday Osaretin, expressed optimism of the groups to wholly participate in the forthcoming edition of the summit, noting that the last six editions met their expectations.
According to him, “From the first edition in 2017, the summit has continued to record successes, growing into a think-thank to shape insights and review efforts by the government to drive the inflow of private sector investment into the State and better the lives of Edo people in line with the vision of the Governor transform the State into the best sub-national to live and prosper in Africa by the year 2050.

“We have participated in previous editions of the summit and have never been disappointed. This year will not be different as we will be trooping out in our numbers to celebrate our performing governor who has taken deliberate steps over the past seven years to improve the lives of the majority of the people and place the State on the path of sustainable and accelerated growth and development.”
