Edo Deputy Gov. Shuaibu Visits Accident Victims of Okpella-Okene Tragedy

Edo State Deputy Governor, Comrade Philip Shuaibu, visited the victims of a tragic road accident on the Okpella-Okene-Abuja Road in Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State. The accident involved a truck and multiple vehicles and resulted in the unfortunate loss of fifteen lives on Monday September 25, 2023.

Accompanied by the Local Government chairman, Benedicta Attoh, Shaibu conducted an on-the-spot assessment of the accident scene and expressed his condolences to the families of the victims. He described the accident as regrettable and pledged his personal support and the state government’s intervention to restore electricity in the affected area.

Shaibu also mentioned that some of the hospitalized victims were responding to treatment, providing a glimmer of hope amidst the tragedy. He emphasized the importance of safety measures to prevent such incidents in the future and called on truck drivers to exercise caution, especially in busy places like Okpella.

The Deputy Governor highlighted the paramount importance of ensuring the safety of the people and assured that necessary steps would be taken to prevent similar accidents from happening again.

He also urged the security personnel in the area to remain vigilant to avoid any recurrence of such incidents.
