The Edo State Council for Islamic Affairs has commended Governor Godwin Obaseki for providing palliative measures to help the Muslim community in the state cope with the removal of fuel subsidy by the Federal Government. This shows a recognition of the challenges faced by the community and an acknowledgment of the efforts made by the state government to address these challenges.

The statement from Alh. AbdulAzeez Nosakhare Igbinudu (FCA) highlights the importance of such measures in alleviating the economic hardship experienced by the people in the state, noting that the support from the state government is considered timely and beneficial.

He noted, “On behalf of the Edo State Council for Islamic Affairs and the entire Muslim Ummah of Edo State, we wish to express our appreciation to you for giving us 100 (50kg) bags of rice and 50 (50kg) bags of maize through the Commissioner for Youths and Humanitarian Affairs.

“We have distributed these items through the various Muslim Communities, Muslim Organizations and Imams across the three senatorial zones of the State. We appreciate the opportunity given to the Council to spread the distribution to the stakeholders in the nooks and crannies of the State.”

“We appreciate your kind gestures and may the peace and abundant blessings of Allah continue to be with you, your family and your entire cabinet. Amin.”

It would be recalled that Governor Godwin Obaseki has consistently initiated and provided palliative measures including the free inter-city and intra-city bus rides and other welfare packages to the vulnerable in the State, so as to assuage the sufferings of Edo State residents, occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy by the Federal Government.
