Abeokuta, Ogun State – September 15, 2026

DDNewsOnline

Senator Solomon Adeola (APC, Ogun West), the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate for Ogun State, has threatened to institute legal action against Hon. Abayomi Hunye, a suspended member of the APC from Tube, Ipokia Local Government Area, and Ambassador Folake Marcus-Bello of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), over what he described as libelous and false statements made about him and his family on national television.

Both Hunye and Marcus-Bello have granted interviews on Channels Television programmes where they claimed that Senator Adeola is an Ekiti State indigene, among other allegations, without presenting any evidence.

Senator Adeola has therefore given the two individuals 24 hours to publicly present evidence of their allegations on his state of origin or face lawsuits over the false and libelous claims that were widely circulated on other media platforms.

“I watched in utter disbelief as these characters that I hardly know utter assertive and outrageous lies about my origin without any proof. One falsely claimed on TV that I am from Ekiti and when asked where exactly in Ekiti went moronically blank and could not provide an answer. The other one was lying about the locations of the graves of my parents as if she was part of the undertakers at the burial all in a futile effort to justify an unsustainable falsehood. Enough is enough. They should produce their evidence in 24 hours or be ready for my lawsuits,” the senator stated.

It will be recalled that the rumour of the Senator’s alleged Ekiti State origin was initially used as a propaganda tool to prevent his emergence as Senator representing Ogun West senatorial district, but the gimmick failed to prevent the people of the district from voting massively for him at the 2023 National Assembly Elections.

This resurrection of the falsehood is being linked to his move toward the 2027 governorship race in Ogun State.
