The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) is set to commemorate the maiden National Police Day on Monday, April 7, 2025, as a tribute to officers who have paid the ultimate price in service to the nation.

The announcement was made today, April 2, 2025, by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, during a press briefing.

According to ACP Adejobi, the grand parade and procession to mark the occasion will be held at Eagle Square, Abuja, and will serve as the highlight of a series of events recognizing the exceptional dedication and sacrifices of police personnel in the line of duty.

It will be recalled that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, officially declared the first week of April as Police Week, and April 7 as National Police Day, during the maiden edition of the Nigeria Police Awards and Commendations held at the Congress Hall of the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja.

President Tinubu emphasized that this initiative underscores the government’s commitment to retooling and reforming the Nigeria Police Force by ensuring officers are equipped with the necessary skills, knowledge, values, and modern equipment required to meet the evolving challenges of policing in the 21st century.

“The exemplary velour of the Nigeria Police Force does not only represent the pinnacle of patriotism that binds us,” the President remarked, “but also instills confidence that brighter days lie just beyond the horizon.”

The celebration of National Police Day is expected to bring together dignitaries, senior government officials, security stakeholders, and the general public in honor of the courage, commitment, and sacrifice of the men and women of the Nigeria Police Force.

Addressing journalists today, the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, announced that the lineup of activities includes an inaugural National Police Day which will be held from April 2 to April 7, 2025, featuring a series of impactful humanitarian and community-based activities across the country.

According to ACP Adejobi, the historic event is designed to celebrate the dedication, sacrifices, and achievements of the Nigeria Police Force in ensuring national security. The week-long celebration will include medical outreaches, community engagements, exhibitions by security companies and partners, among other programs aimed at fostering stronger police-community relations.

He emphasized that the event will serve as a platform to recognize the police force’s crucial role in safeguarding lives and property, while also reinforcing public trust and collaboration in maintaining law and order. The event is expected to host government officials, community leaders, representatives of ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) as well as other key stakeholders from various sectors.
