The recent U.S. presidential election, which saw Donald Trump defeating incumbent Vice President Kamala Harris, indeed carries a historical weight. Trump, capturing both the Electoral College and the popular vote with 50.7% of the total votes cast, marks a notable political milestone.
As of Wednesday morning, Trump had received 73,407,735 votes representing 50.7% of total cast with 295 electoral college points, while Harris had 69,074,145 votes (47.7%) with 226 points. The electoral college requires 270 points to declare any candidate winner and Trump surpassed the benchmark by 25 clear points.
This achievement makes him the first Republican candidate since George W. Bush in 2004 to win the popular vote. Bush had narrowly defeated John Kerry with 50.7% of the vote and 286 electoral votes, compared to Kerry’s 48.3% and 251 votes.
Since 2004, Democrats consistently won the popular vote, even during Trump’s 2016 victory, where he triumphed over Hillary Clinton through the Electoral College despite trailing her in the popular vote tally. This makes Trump’s recent accomplishment significant, reflecting a shift in voter dynamics that saw him leading the national popular sentiment.

The reactions from Trump’s staunchest critics highlight the depth of division and the consequential nature of this electoral outcome. These reactions provide insight into how his victory has reshaped political discourse, reflecting broader public sentiment and underscoring the profound impact of this election cycle on American politics. It’s clear that both the victory and the opposition responses will influence political strategies and public policy discussions in the coming years.
However, while many people have not accepted reality and are still commenting on the high points of the election, it is instructive to hear what some of Trump’s virulent opposers had to say about the smashing win, in order to understand why America remains the greatest Democracy on planet earth.
Here’s what some of them said;
1.PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN
“BIDEN PROMISES PEACEFUL TRANSITION OF POWER
“You can’t love your country only when you win. You can’t love your neighbor only when you agree,” Biden said. “Something to hope we can do, no matter who you voted for, is see each other not as adversaries, but as fellow Americans. Bring down the temperature.”

He also sought to console fellow Democrats who were alarmed by the former president’s stunning comeback.
“Setbacks are unavoidable. Giving up is unforgiveable,” Biden said as he addressed staff who were disappointed in Harris’ defeat. “A defeat does not mean we are defeated.”
Biden said Tuesday’s election had proven the integrity of the U.S. electoral system and said he would preside over an orderly transfer of power.
“I also hope we can lay to rest a question about the integrity of the American electoral system. It is honest, it is fair and it is transparent. It can be trusted, win or lose,” he said. “We lost this battle. The America of your dreams is calling for you to get back up,” he added.

“BIDEN VOWS PEACEFUL TRANSFER OF POWER
In remarks at the White House on Thursday, the president said he spoke with Trump on Nov. 6 to congratulate him on winning the 2024 election.
“I assured him that I will direct my entire administration to work with his team to ensure a peaceful and orderly transition,” the president said.

Speaking from the Rose Garden, the president said: “I know for some people, it’s a time for victory, to state the obvious. For others, it’s a time of loss. Campaigns are a conflict of competing visions, the country chooses one or the other. We accept the choice.”

- VICE PRESIDENT KAMALA HARRIS
“HARRIS CONCEDES TO TRUMP, PROMISES PEACEFUL TRANSITION
In her speech, the vice president confirmed that she had earlier called Trump to concede the election.
She said she told Trump she would help him and his team with their transition and that her team would “engage in a peaceful transfer of power.”
“A fundamental principle of American democracy is that when we lose an election, we accept the results. That principle, as much as any other, distinguishes democracy from monarchy or tyranny, and anyone who seeks the public trust must honor it,” Harris said from a stage on the Howard University campus in Washington.
“At the same time in our nation, we owe loyalty not to a president or a party but to the Constitution of the United States and loyalty to our conscience and to our God. My allegiance to all three is why I am here to say, while I concede this election, I do not concede the fight that fueled this campaign.”

- U.S. 44th PRESIDENT BARRACK OBAMA
“OBAMAS CONGRATULATE TRUMP, SAY ‘OUR POINT OF VIEW WON’T ALWAYS WIN OUT’
Former U.S. president Barack Obama has congratulated Republican Donald Trump on his victory in the U.S. presidential election.
“This is obviously not the outcome we had hoped for, given our profound disagreements with the Republican ticket on a whole host of issues,” Obama said in a joint statement with wife Michelle.
“But living in a democracy is about recognising that our point of view won’t always win out, and being willing to accept the peaceful transfer of power.”

- FORMER CONGRESSWOMAN LIZ CHENEY

“Americans are bound, whether we like the outcome or not, to accept the results of our elections. We now have a special responsibility, as citizens of the greatest nation on earth, to do everything we can to support and defend our Constitution, preserve the rule of law, and ensure that our institutions hold over these coming four years.
“Citizens across this country, our courts, members of the press and those serving in our federal, state and local governments must now be the guardrails of democracy.”

Winston here from Iowa. I just wanted to see if you’d like any extra specific traffic or online help in any capacity – no matter what it might be. Create custom AI bots to answer questions from visitors on your site or walk them through a sales process – I could even create a persona of yourself, setup mass targeted email/messaging campaigns across the country to hundreds of millions of businesses or consumers at no cost to you, social growth on autopilot, programming, video/site creation/editing, AI integrations to automate anything you can think of, remove negative listings, consolidating all of your hosting/emails/ssl certificates under one provider that charges $5 a month for unlimited everything, no joke. The list goes on. I’ve been doing this for over twenty two years and love it.
There’s virtually no cost on my end to do any of this for you except for my time starting at around three dollars a day. I don’t mean to impose; I was just curious if I could lend a hand. Brief history, I’ve been working from home for a couple decades now and I love helping others. I’m married, have three girls and if I can provide for them by helping you and giving back by using the tools and knowledge I’ve built and learned over the years, I can’t think of a better win-win.
It amazes me that no one else is helping others quite like I do and I’d love to show you how I can help out. So, if you need any extra help in any capacity, please let me know either way as I value your time and don’t want to pester you.
PS – If I didn’t mention something you might need help with just ask, I only mentioned a handful of things to keep this brief 🙂
