The development aligns with earlier reports that Tuggar was among four ministers in President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet expected to step down to pursue their political ambitions.
The Special Adviser to the Minister on Media and Communications Strategy, Alkasim Abdulkadir, had earlier confirmed Tuggar’s intention to contest for the Bauchi State governorship seat.
“The minister is interested and aspires to run for the governorship seat of Bauchi State,” Abdulkadir said.

When asked about the timing of the resignation, he noted that Tuggar would adhere to the timetable released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which stipulates all rules and regulations for running.
Tuggar, who hails from Udubo in Gamawa Local Government Area of Bauchi State, previously contested for the position.
The resignation comes as several high-profile politicians within the APC and other parties intensify preparations for the 2027 elections, with many cabinet members expected to step down to focus on their ambitions.
