Edo Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Earl Osaro Onaiwu seems to have garnered significant support from former governors in Nigeria, who have gone as far as purchasing the Governorship nomination form for him.
This act of solidarity is being seen as a strong show of support for Onaiwu’s candidacy in the upcoming gubernatorial election in Edo State.
Already, many analysts are projecting Onaiwu to be the surprised consensus candidate in the race for who takes over from incumbent governor Godwin Obaseki.
Onaiwu, being the former Director General of the PDP Governors Forum, is considered a prominent and experienced political figure who many see as a candidate who can revitalize the Edo PDP, given his track record of non-controversial participation in party affairs and his commitment to an open and accountable government.
During his tenure as the founding Director General of the PDP Governors Forum, Onaiwu played a key role in attracting multi-lateral development agencies and ambassadors to collaborate with PDP governors for the development of Nigeria.
The former governors are supporting him based on the positive impact he had in that role and the potential benefits he could bring to Edo State.
