A Civil Society Organization (CSO), advocates for Better Leadership and Sustainable Rural
Development Initiative (Able) has applauded the decision of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu to nominate Hon. Zephaniah Jisalo, a native of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) for ministerial appointment.

Speaking at a well-attended press conference in Abuja, ABLE National Coordinator, Hon. Destiny Madu, noted with delight that Mr. President’s move to appoint Hon. Jisalo as minister was a clear departure from the past, where FCT indigenes are left out of successive Federal Executive Councils.

He further noted that the President’s decision would give the indigenous people of FCT a sense of belonging.

While congratulating President Tinubu for the historic nomination, Hon. Madu advised that Hon. Jisalo should be assigned the portfolio of Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, positing that for equity’s sake, the indigenes deserved the office, through one of their own.

According to him, appointing a non-indigenous person as minister will amount to injustice, especially when, they have highly qualified people to hold the office even within the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) structure.

He described President Tinubu as a shrewd leader, who is ready to give every Nigerian a sense of belonging.

“By giving the office of FCT Minister to an Indigene will no doubt be a tremendous feat for President Tinubu’s administration and it will change the entire scheme of things in the FCT,” he said.

The group on 8th July 2023, through a release, strongly canvassed for the inclusion of an FCT Indigene in the incoming Federal Executive Council (FEC). The well-publicized press release was followed by a letter to the President on the same subject matter.

Interestingly, Hon. Madu described Tinubu as a listening President.

Hon. Madu therefore call on Nigerians irrespective of their political leaning, to throw their weight behind President Tinubu’s administration, in his efforts to bring justice and fairness to bear in giving every Nigerian a sense of belonging.
