Rep Erhiatake, disclosed that her decision to dump the party that made her politically, was due to her dissatisfaction with the state chapter of the party and unresolved leadership challenges at the national level which she didn’t specify.
In her letter of resignation from PDP sent on December 5 to the PDP Ward Chairman of Ethiope West Council, she announced her departure and also, returned her membership card while severing ties with the PDP, henceforth.
The letter read; “Please be informed that by this notice I formally resign as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with immediate effect. I surrender my attached Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] Membership Card, with membership number 0777144 in furtherance of my complete dissociation and disengagement from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)”.

Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu was elected into the House of Representatives in 2003 under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), while Ifeanyi Okowa was governor, notwithstanding the political beef between her father and Okowa over turf battle for supremacy on who to fly the party’s gubernatorial flag.
It will be recalled that James Ibori was in the same governorship class with president Bola Tinubu and they have remained chums over the years. In the struggle for Delta state gubernatorial slot in the last election Ibori backed David Edevbie but Okowa that his preferred candidate, Sheriff Oborevwori’s emerged and later won the election.
This kind of nomination fallouts often results in bad blood, which leads to bad faith and discontent, no matter the photo-ops after such battles which are propelled more by political hegemony rather than anything to do with the interest of the people.
It will be recalled that Chief James Ibori, was jailed in the United Kingdom for money laundering and fraud. In April 2012, he was sentenced to 13 years in prison by a Southwark Crown Court after pleading guilty to charges of fraud, conspiracy to launder money, and conspiracy to defraud. After serving a portion of his sentence, Ibori was released from a UK prison in December 2016.

Following Tinubu’s inauguration as President, Chief James Ibori, who had remained in the shadows after his release from imprisonment in the UK, was among the early visitors to the Presidential Villa to identify with his close ally, reflecting their political bond.
However, no one can say with exactitude if he had a hand in his daughter’s decampment from PDP to APC but this reflects on the conversation on loyalty of politicians to the party that sponsored them initially.
