House Calls for Rehabilitation of Malindo, Garin Baka, Warah Road in Kebbi State

The House of Representatives has urged the Federal Ministries of Finance, Works and Housing, Federal Inland Revenue Services (FIRS) and Mainstream Energy Solutions to complete all the necessary paper works and compel the contractor to immediately commence the rehabilitation of Malindo, Garin Baka, Ngaski to Warah Road in Ngaski/Shanga/Yauri Federal Constituency of Kebbi State.

This was sequel to a motion moved yesterday during plenary by Hon. Yusuf Tanko Sununu on the need to Commence rehabilitation of Malindo, Garin Baka, Ngaski to Warah Ngaski/Shanga/Yauri Federal Constituency of Kebbi State.

The House noted that the Malindo, Garin Baka, Ngaski to Warah Road, is an important means of land transportation networks which aids the movement of humans and goods and enhances service delivery in the country,

Lawmakers further informed that Malindo to Warah is a major road that provides a shortcut to the southwest and serves as a link to Mokwa town in Niger State.

“The House is aware that the Malindo to Warah road is the major route used by vehicles, and heavy trucks for the conveyance of agricultural produce, especially rice for which Kebbi State and her people are famous.

“The House equally disclosed that the road is about 70 kilometres, adding that the transit time is about five hours and more than that during the rainy season.

“Lawmakers during plenary stated that they are aware that the Kebbi state government had rehabilitated the road twice, but due to heavy trunks plying the road it is currently in deplorable condition.

The House is cognizant that the Federal Executive Council exploring Executive Order 007 of 2019 (Roads Infrastructure Development and Refurbishment Investment Tax Credit Scheme) approved the sum of N28,345,000,000.00, in October 2021 for rehabilitation of the road through the Mainstream Energy Solutions.

The House is also cognizant of the negative impact of the deplorable state of the road on the economy, security, and free movement of persons and the fact that the contractor is yet to mobilize to the site.

The House therefore, mandated its Committees on Finance, Works and Housing to ensure strict compliance.
