The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has explained why it would be difficult to prosecute singer-songwriter and actress Simisola “Simi” Kosoko over resurfaced allegations of pedophilia, stating that legal action would require a willing survivor or complainant to step forward and officially report the matter.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Morning Brief programme on Thursday, February 26, 2026, the Executive Secretary of the agency, Lola Vivour-Adeniyi, said: “The truth is that it will be very difficult to prosecute without a survivor being present.”

The comments come amid renewed controversy surrounding old posts from Simi’s X (formerly Twitter) account, dating back to 2012, which have resurfaced online. In the posts made when Simi was 23 and assisting at her mother’s daycare centre she reportedly described interactions with toddlers in ways that some social media users have interpreted as sexualisation.
The allegations gained traction after Simi spoke publicly about growing concerns over sexual assault in Nigeria, following a now-retracted rape claim by TikToker Mirabel. Netizens then unearthed the old tweets, including one referencing a four-year-old child “acting like he wants to lock lips” and another alleging the child “trying to put his hand inside my shirt.”

Simi has since addressed the backlash, explaining the context of the posts and denying any wrongdoing.
DSVA: Vivour-Adeniyi called on the Ogun State Government (where Simi is from) to begin a preliminary investigation into the allegations, stressing that authorities have a responsibility to take such reports seriously once they surface. She added: “As for the Simi case, we cannot pretend that we have not seen these reports. We have a duty to at least begin a preliminary investigation.” However, she reiterated that prosecution would be challenging without direct testimony from any alleged victim or survivor.

NAPTIP: The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons stated on its Instagram page on Tuesday that it is committed to investigating all credible reports and urged anyone with factual information, evidence or direct knowledge to come forward.
Vivour-Adeniyi encouraged any individual who may have experienced sexual abuse, assault, aggression or related issues to report formally, noting that a statement from an affected person would enable authorities to properly document the matter and determine the next steps.
No formal complaint has been filed with the DSVA, NAPTIP or the police as of Thursday afternoon, and no criminal investigation has been opened.
