Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on Monday urged political appointees and public servants in the state to redouble their efforts in the closing months of his second term to ensure the administration leaves a lasting legacy.

The governor gave the charge while swearing in Dr Taiwo Ladipo as a commissioner, urging him to regard his appointment as another opportunity to serve the state diligently.

This was contained in a statement issued by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Sulaimon Olanrewaju, in Ibadan, the state capital.

Ladipo, a former Commissioner for Health who, until his latest appointment, served as the Permanent Secretary in charge of General Administration, has been deployed to the Ministry of Establishments and Training.

Meanwhile, Prof. Solihu Adelabu has been redeployed to the Ministry of Investment, Trade, Cooperatives and Industry.

Speaking at the Executive Chambers of the Governor’s Office, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, where the swearing-in ceremony was held, Makinde said his administration would continue to appoint individuals who align with its vision for the state.
“My government will continue to make use of individuals who fit into its vision for the state. Let me use this opportunity to clear the air on the development that created the vacancy that Ladipo filled as commissioner,” adding that “relieving an appointee of his or her appointment should be seen as restructuring for better results.”

While congratulating the new commissioner, the governor urged him and other appointees “to work harder in the concluding months of Omituntun 2.0. It is imperative for the administration to finish strong and leave a lasting impact.
“I want to also urge political appointees and government officials in this administration to remain loyal to the government, discharge your duties effectively and put in your best for the continuous growth and development of the state.”
