The Edo State Government has initiated the free enrollment of operatives of the Edo State Security Network and Local Government pensioners into the State Health Insurance Scheme. This move is part of an effort to ensure inclusion and expand the program’s reach.

Mr. Efemwenkiekie Nosa Nesta, Director of ICT at the Edo Health Insurance Commission, stated that Governor Godwin Obaseki directed the extension of the scheme to these two categories. The enrollment exercise is set to include over 5,000 vigilantes and more than 10,000 Local Government pensioners across all 18 Local Government Areas in the State.

According to him, “The exercise will capture over 5000 vigilantes and over 10,000 Local Government pensioners across the 18 Local Government Areas in the State.

“The enrollment will capture operatives of the Edo State Security Network, the Local Government pensioners and the State Government pensioners that were unable to register during the last exercise.

“You can recall that late last year, the Edo State pensioners were captured into the system. He has extended the goodwill to Edo State Security Network members and the Local Government pensioners. We will capture them into our system so that they can start receiving care under the scheme.”

During a monitoring of the ongoing enrollment in Egor Local Government Secretariat, a beneficiary, Chief Edogun Bright, the Edogun of Benin Kingdom who spoke on behalf of other beneficiaries, thanked Governor Obaseki for approving their inclusion in the scheme.
