Ojokoro Local Council Development Area (LCDA) was created from Ifako-Ijaiye to bring government closer to residents and allow communities to receive development more directly.
The council is headed by Hon. Oluyemisi Adenike Rosiji.
Supporters of Ojokoro’s separate administration can point to the number of projects the council says it has carried out since the beginning of the present administration.

In July 2026, the council reported 22 major infrastructure projects. These included 12 roads and seven drainage networks, as well as projects in healthcare, education and human-capital development.
The council also reported the completion and commissioning of six more roads in September 2026. They included Olusegun Oladapo Street, Oniyaomebi Street, Yusuf Street, Ibrahim Afuwape Street, Ipetu-Ijesha Street and Onipinla Street.
Drainage work was also carried out alongside some of the roads. This is important because road construction in areas affected by flooding often needs proper drainage to prevent water from damaging the roads and surrounding homes.

The council further reported that 26 major projects and interventions had been carried out during its first year. These covered roads, drainage, healthcare, education, empowerment and other areas.
These figures show the activities reported by Ojokoro LCDA itself. They are not an independent audit of all the projects carried out by the council.
On the other side of the argument is Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government, the larger local government from which Ojokoro LCDA was created.

Ifako-Ijaiye is headed by Prince Usman Akanbi Hamzat and has also continued to carry out infrastructure projects in its communities.
In August 2026, the local government reported the completion of six road rehabilitation projects. They included Olufemi Ajayi Street, Olayiwola Street, Omo Ojuile Street, Suarau Oladipupo Street, Adeshina Avenue and Abdullahi Street.
The council later reported the completion of another four roads in Kudirat Abiola Housing Estate. They were Mufutau Hamzat Street, Kahf Close, Cactus Street and Omoworare Street.

This means Ifako-Ijaiye can also point to road construction and rehabilitation as evidence of development under its administration.
The difference is that Ojokoro is operating as a separate LCDA with its own administration, while Ifako-Ijaiye continues to carry out projects within the communities under its present local government structure.
The internally generated revenue (IGR) question is more difficult to settle because there are not enough verified public 2025/2026 figures showing exactly how much Ojokoro LCDA generates and exactly how much Ifako-Ijaiye generates.

Without the actual revenue figures for both councils, it would be difficult to use IGR alone to argue that one council is financially stronger than the other.
For a proper comparison, the revenue collected by both councils, their budgets, expenditure records, sources of funding and the actual cost of their infrastructure projects would need to be placed side by side.
The available records show development on both sides. Ojokoro has recorded substantial projects under its separate administration, while Ifako-Ijaiye has also continued road rehabilitation and other development projects.

However, without verified IGR and expenditure figures for both councils, there is not enough evidence to make a definite financial comparison between them.
For these reasons, there is no need for Ojokoro to return to the old Ifako-Ijaiye structure. The LCDA should remain as a separate administration so that it can continue its ongoing development trajectory.
