The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has expressed deep concern over the worsening security situation in Nigeria, revealing that terrorism and kidnapping have spread from the northern part of the country to the South, reaching his own doorstep.

Speaking at the US-Nigeria Faith Heroes Award Gala organised by the Save Nigeria Group in Washington, D.C. on June 23, Pastor Adeboye said the situation has deteriorated significantly.
“Things have gone far, far worse than before. The terrorism, kidnapping, and so on that were in the north are now even at my doorstep. They have come all the way down to the South,” he said in a video that surfaced online.

The revered cleric, however, defended President Bola Tinubu against accusations of not doing enough, stating that the President has fulfilled his role by directing the military to tackle the insecurity.
“I need to make this one clear: I don’t support those who are accusing the president of not doing enough. When the commander-in-chief has given instructions to his subordinates, he has done his bit,” Adeboye said.

He drew a parallel with former US President Donald Trump, noting that leaders give orders without personally fighting on the battlefield.

Pastor Adeboye disclosed that he had personally discussed the security challenges with President Tinubu and the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, during which he urged the President to issue a 90-day ultimatum to military commanders.
“I told him to issue directives to military officers across the armed forces and set a 90-day ultimatum: wipe out this rubbish or resign. And then take care of the supporters, the sponsors,” he said.

He alleged that the sponsors and financiers of terrorism and kidnapping are well-known influential figures, including some politicians and businessmen, and called on the government to go after them decisively.
“You know them. Some of them are businessmen. Some of them are politicians. Go after them. Because if you do not deal with those who are supplying these people with arms and ammunition, the problem will continue,” Adeboye stated.

The RCCG leader also appealed to the United States and other friendly nations to support Nigeria’s efforts in restoring peace and security across the country.

Pastor Adeboye’s comments come amid continued reports of banditry, kidnapping, and terrorist activities in different parts of Nigeria, with recent incidents even in southern states.
