Abeokuta, Ogun State – September 8, 2026

DDNewsOnline

There is growing political tension in Ogun West as stakeholders closely watch the next moves of two influential federal lawmakers, Hon. Tunji Akinosi of Ado-Odo/Ota Federal Constituency and Hon. Abiodun Akinlade of Yewa South/Ipokia Federal Constituency.

Sources close to both camps have revealed that the two House of Representatives members may dump the All Progressives Congress (APC) and defect to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) if the ruling party fails to grant them return tickets for the 2027 general elections.

Both lawmakers command strong grassroots structures and are credited with delivering massive votes for the APC in the 2023 elections. Political observers believe a double defection at this stage would significantly weaken the party’s hold in Ogun West.

Analysts say the leadership of the APC in Ogun State must act swiftly to manage the situation. Losing both representatives to the PDP would not only threaten the party’s House of Representatives seats in the zone but could also affect presidential and governorship calculations ahead of 2027.

As it stands, consultations are ongoing within the party and the lawmakers’ camps. However, the message from both sides remains firm: “No ticket, no stay.”
