Senator Akin Odunsi, a prominent leader in Ogun West, has categorically debunked circulating rumours that he has handpicked Hon. Ojugbele and Hon. Larrybash as consensus candidates for the Ogun West Senatorial District and Ado-Odo/Ota Federal Constituency respectively ahead of the 2027 elections.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, May 4, 2026, Senator Odunsi described the rumours as false and misleading.

“My attention has been drawn to the false and misleading rumour currently circulating that I, Senator Akin Odunsi, have handpicked Hon. Ojugbele and Hon. Larrybash as the consensus candidates for Ogun West Senatorial District and Ado-Odo/Ota Federal Constituency respectively,” he said.
He clarified that no consensus has been reached yet on who will fly the All Progressives Congress (APC) flag for the two positions.

“As one of the leaders from Ogun West, I am fully aligned with the party’s directive and the ongoing consultation process,” Odunsi stated.
The senator explained that the two leaders assigned to midwife the process have only submitted their reports to Governor Dapo Abiodun for further directive.

“Until the Governor and the party leadership make a final pronouncement, any list or name being peddled as ‘consensus candidate’ is fake, unauthorized, and should be disregarded,” he warned.
Senator Odunsi urged all party faithful, supporters, and the general public in Ogun West to remain calm, disregard speculators, and continue to trust the leadership of the APC under Governor Dapo Abiodun.

“Our goal is to present the best, most acceptable candidates who will guarantee victory for APC in 2027. We will not be distracted by rumour mongers,” he added.
The statement comes amid growing political activities and consultations within the APC in Ogun State as the 2027 general elections approach.
