‎The Federal High Court in Abuja has found Senator Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan, representing Kogi Central, guilty of contempt of court, in a ruling delivered by Justice Binta Nyako on Friday, July 4, 2025, stating that Akpoti Uduaghan violated a gag order by publishing a satirical apology to Senate President Godswill Akpabio on her verified Facebook page on April 7.

‎The Court imposed a fine of N5 million on Senator Akpoti Uduaghan for contempt in a civil proceeding. Additionally, Akpoti Uduaghan has been ordered to publish a retractive apology in two national publication and also, on her Facebook page within seven days of preliminary ruling.

The contempt charges were initiated by Senator Akpabio but the court declined to grant any personal reliefs in his favor.

‎This decision is part of an ongoing legal battle challenging Akpoti Uduaghan’s six-month suspension by the Senate, with the court set to deliver its judgment on the matter soon.
