Speaking at a closed-door meeting with governors in Abuja, recently, the President emphasized the need for practical solutions to address the challenges plaguing people living in the rural areas, where poverty and inflation have hit hardest.
“Wetin dey ground? He asked the governors over and over again. “Nigerians are still complaining. We must work together to wet the ground, bring relief to our people,” said the President. He urged the governors to urgently prioritize policies that directly improve living conditions.

The President highlighted the importance of investing in agriculture, infrastructure, and social welfare programs to boost local economies and ease the burden on rural dwellers. Also, he stressed the need for transparency in the distribution of federal palliatives and subsidies to ensure they reach those most in need.
As to be expected when presidential statements are made public, several Nigerians took to social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter) and facebook to express mixed reactions. While some commended the President’s call to action, others remain skeptical, citing ineffective policy initiatives without relation to the citizenry. “Talk is cheap. We need to see action on the ground,” one user posted.
