The conclusion of the Nigerian Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) Annual Conference 2024 marks a significant seminal moment with a focus on enhancing operational effectiveness in a joint environment through tailor-made training.
The conference, which commenced on January 9, concluded on Thursday, January 12, with a commitment to maintaining a strong emphasis on relevant training policies aimed at boosting the tactical capabilities of army personnel.
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General TA Lagbaja, served as the special guest of honour, represented at the conference by the Chief of Training (COT), Nigerian Army Headquarters, Major General Sani Gambo Mohammed.
In his goodwill message, the COAS urged participants to remain focused on fulfilling their mandate, implementing policies on doctrine and training that will enhance the operational effectiveness of the Nigerian Army.
Major General Kevin Aligbe, the Chief Host and Commander of TRADOC NA, emphasized the strategic importance of the conference as a platform for interactive access to training opportunities. He highlighted the significance of these opportunities in improving the mental and operational capacity of participants in their primary roles of military engagements.
Major General Aligbe further explained that the training modules were tailor-made to challenge participants’ mental capacity, encouraging them to generate effective suggestions to address the multi-faceted security challenges in the country through home-grown solutions.
The conference attracted several active and retired senior officers, including 120 Commandants and Field Commanders from various Nigerian Army Schools. Notable resource persons who presented papers included Major General SI Alli, the Force Commander of the Multi National Joint Task Force, and Major General Victor Ezugwu (rtd), the inventor of Ezugwu MRAP, among others.
The COAS expressed gratitude to the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, for his support and encouragement of constant training. Additionally, he thanked the Honourable Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru, and the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, for providing excellent leadership to the Nigerian Armed Forces.
The closing ceremony, held at the TRADOC NA Headquarters in Minna, Niger State, featured the presentation of souvenirs to the special guest of honour, resource persons, and dignitaries.
General Kevin Aligbe, the TRADOC Commander, expressed satisfaction and called for stronger collaboration and cooperation among security agencies in the ongoing fight against insurgents from different flanks.
