The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has threatened to seal off any building in Abuja used as the headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by the faction led by Kabiru Tanimu Turaki.

Wike also warned that any bank allowing the Turaki-led PDP to open an account for the sale of nomination forms ahead of the 2027 elections would face serious consequences.

The former Rivers State governor stated that any attempt by the faction to sell forms to aspirants would amount to duping Nigerians.

He further boasted that if Turaki opens a bank account for the PDP under the current circumstances, he would ensure the senior lawyer is stripped of his SAN title.

Wike made the remarks on Wednesday while fielding questions from journalists during his monthly media chat.

“Any bank that allows Turaki-led PDP to open an account for the sale of nomination forms will be in trouble. I will seal off any house that allows them to use it as the PDP headquarters,” he said.

The comments come amid the lingering leadership crisis in the PDP following conflicting claims of control after recent court judgments.

Recall that the PDP Board of Trustees (BOT), led by former Senate President Adolphus Wabara, recently announced that it had taken over the national leadership of the party, citing a Supreme Court judgment.

The BOT, in a statement signed by Wabara, said the apex court’s ruling left the PDP without a recognised leadership, prompting the trustees to step in to avoid a vacuum.

Wabara argued that the Supreme Court invalidated the November 2025 National Convention in Ibadan that produced the Turaki-led National Working Committee.

However, the PDP faction loyal to Wike has countered the claims, insisting there is no leadership vacuum in the party.

The escalating tension within the PDP is expected to shape the party’s preparation for the 2027 general elections.
