Nkiruka was arraigned on Friday, May 15, 2026, before Justice D.I. Dipeolu of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, on a two-count charge bordering on obtaining money by false pretence and stealing.

The charges stem from allegations that between July 14 and 17, 2024, she fraudulently obtained the sum of N36 million from Mrs. Ifeyinwa Nonye Okoye under the false pretence of leasing a six-bedroom detached duplex located at No. 1B, Tunbosun Osobu Street, Off Kuboye Road, Lekki, Lagos.

One of the counts reads: “That you, OKORO BLESSING NKIRUKA, between July 14 and 17, 2024, in Lagos… did obtain the sum of N36,000,000.00 from Mrs. Ifeyinwa Nonye Okoye under the false pretence of leasing a six-bedroom detached duplex… and you thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 1(3) of the Advance Fee Fraud and Other Fraud Related Offences Act, 2006.”

The second count accused her of fraudulently converting the same amount to her own use, an offence punishable under Section 390 of the Criminal Code Act.

At the proceedings, defence counsel P.I. Nwafor informed the court that the defendant had refunded N24 million out of the N36 million and requested a short adjournment to settle the balance, noting that the nominal complainant had agreed to prevail on the EFCC to drop the case if full payment is made.

Prosecution counsel S.I. Suleiman, however, insisted that the matter must proceed, stating that the complainant in the case is the Federal Government of Nigeria.

Justice Dipeolu ruled that discussions between the defendant and the nominal complainant could continue even during the pendency of the charge, and ordered the defendant to take her plea.

Blessing CEO pleaded “not guilty” to the charges.

Following her plea, the prosecution prayed the court to remand her in a correctional facility pending trial. The defence, however, informed the court that the defendant was served with the charge only on Thursday and requested she be remanded in EFCC custody pending the perfection of her bail application.

Justice Dipeolu granted the request and adjourned the matter to June 5, 2026, for the commencement of trial.
