In a surprised twist, Nigerian Chidimma Adetshina, the first runner-up at the recent Miss Universe pageant, has announced her decision to take a bold step forward by choosing to leave the pageant, to embrace new opportunities for growth and self-discovery.

In a recent interview with BBC Pidgin, Chidimma shared her intention to stay away from pageantry to focus on her education, personal growth and development while broadening her career prospects in creative fields.

Her decision follows a challenging period in her pageantry journey, particularly during her participation in the Miss South Africa pageant, where controversy over her nationality led to her withdrawal.

Despite the difficulties, Chidimma emerged as a strong competitor on the global stage at Miss Universe, earning admiration for her resilience and grace.

“I’m putting pageantry on hold to focus on my education and self-discovery,” Adetshina said. “I’m excited to explore runway modeling, acting and other opportunities”, she said.
