The Capital Market Solicitors Association (CMSA), a leading advocate for professional excellence in Nigeria’s capital market legal ecosystem, has officially announced the date and theme for its 2025 Annual Business Summit (ABS).

The announcement was made during a well-attended press briefing held on May 29 at the Association’s corporate office in Lekki Phase I, Lagos.

Speaking at the event, CMSA Chairman, Barrister Odiaka Vincent Iweze, revealed that the 2025 Annual Business Summit will take place on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at the prestigious Lagos Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island. The summit is scheduled to commence at 10:00 a.m. prompt.

Themed “The Investment and Securities Act 2025: Innovations and Opportunities in the Nigerian Capital Market,” the summit aims to provide a platform for robust discussions on the latest legislative developments and their implications for capital market growth, innovation, and investor protection.

Barrister Iweze assured stakeholders, industry operators, and the general public that the summit will deliver rich insights and strategic dialogue to strengthen Nigeria’s capital market framework.

The CMSA’s chairman highlighted that the recently enacted Investment and Securities Act 2025 repeals the 2007 Act and introduces far-reaching reforms that align Nigeria’s capital market with global best practices. “This new legislation enhances investor protection, regulatory oversight, enforcement mechanisms, and provides expansive opportunities, especially in the digital assets space”, he said.

He stated that this year’s Summit is a timely and significant forum to dissect and engage with these transformative developments.

Barrister Odiaka Vincent Iweze emphasized that, “since its establishment in 2001, the CMSA has been a vanguard of legal excellence and policy advocacy in Nigeria’s capital market space.”

“Our Annual Business Summit is a flagship initiative that convenes key stakeholders—including solicitors, regulators, investors, financial institutions, and policymakers—for knowledge-sharing, insightful debate, and strategic collaboration.”

The general programme of the Summit is comprehensive, designed to capture expert panel discussions covering the full scope of Reforms, Innovations, and Opportunities under the new Act.

The CMSA Leader stated that keynote speakers and panelists have been carefully selected from across the capital market ecosystem. While noting that participation is free, he emphasized that pre-registration is required for effective logistical planning.

He also acknowledged that the upcoming event has been made possible through the generous support of CMSA member firms and corporate sponsors. However, he disclosed that sponsorship opportunities are still available, offering unique branding packages for individuals or corporate bodies to leverage the full benefits of the event.
