The Minister of Works, Senator Dave Umahi, made the announcement while briefing the correspondents of the state house, after the federal executive council meeting.
The Lagos Ibadan Expressway project, valued at N213 billion, has been divided into two legs. The first phase was completed by Julius Berger, while RCC is still working on the second phase.
However, the sum of N30 billion is now an obstacle that must be urgently crossed in order to complete the remaining section which include an 8.55 kilometer stretch of the Lagos bound carriageway.
So far, the Federal Executive Council approved construction of 14 major road contracts worth N242.148 billion across the country, including the Agaye Kachia Baro road in Niger State and the rehabilitation of the Odukpani Junction Apeti section of the Calabar Ikom Ogoja road in Cross River State.

The Federal Government’s renewed commitment to completing the project is a welcome development, but it remains to be seen whether the April deadline will be met, noting that Lagos Ibadan Expressway project has been ongoing for several years, missing previous completion deadlines.
