The Bini Awareness Group (BiAG) has announced its firm intention to initiate the recall of underperforming assembly members from Edo South, including those in both the state and national assemblies.

BiAG, a non-political and non-religious organization committed to promoting and preserving Bini culture, heritage, and interests worldwide, has taken on the task of holding elected political office holders from Edo South to high standards of accountability and transparency. This effort aims to ensure that the region benefits from effective representation and the full dividends of democracy.

In this context, BiAG has resolved to recall any assembly member representing the constituencies of the following local government areas in Edo South: Benin City, Oredo, Egor, Ikpoba-Okha, Uhunmwonde, Orhionmwon, Ovia North-East, and Ovia South-West.

In a statement released by the group’s Secretary, Edosa Eribo, on Wednesday, BiAG expressed disappointment with the poor performance of some assembly members in the region, citing their failure to effectively represent their constituents and address pressing community issues.

The identified underperforming assembly members include those in the Edo State House of Assembly and Members of the National Assembly (Senate and House of Representatives) representing Edo South senatorial district and federal constituencies.

“We, the Bini Awareness Group, have watched with dismay as some of our elected representatives in Edo South have failed to deliver on their promises,” Eribo stated. “We believe it is time to hold them accountable and ensure that our voices are heard.”

BiAG has called on citizens in Edo South to join them in this effort, urging them to exercise their democratic rights and demand better representation from their elected officials.
