Reps Adjourns Plenary to 17th January, Pass 2023 Budget

The House of Representatives on Wednesday adjourned sitting till 17th January 2023 even as the lawmakers passed the 2023 budget totaling N21,827,188,747,391.

Findings indicate that the House raised the N1,319,246,566,677 from the proposal sent to them by President Muhammadu Buhari, in October.

In a related development, the House also passed the 2022 supplementary budget of N819.5 billion.

The passage of the 2023 budget according to some lawmakers is in line with the policy of the 9th National Assembly to ensure the January to December budget cycle for the country.

Last week, the Speaker, of the House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila during plenary hinted at the readiness of the legislators to pass the budget today.

It would be recalled that President, Muhammadu Buhari had on on 7th October 2022 presented N20.51 trillion 2023 budget proposals to the Joint Session of the National Assembly.
