A serving Nigerian Army soldier has been killed while another sustained gunshot injuries following an attack by suspected gunmen in the Mowe-Ibafo axis of Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday at a private dredging site in Magbon Etido, Mowe.

Initial reports described the attackers as suspected bandits, but the Ogun State Police Command later clarified that the incident was an isolated criminal attack and not a confirmed banditry operation.
Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, DSP Babaseyi, confirmed that one soldier on security duty lost his life during the attack, while the injured soldier is currently receiving treatment in a hospital.

The Army Public Relations Officer of the 35 Artillery Brigade, Alamala Barracks, Abeokuta, Major Idereghi Samuel, also confirmed the attack involving military personnel, stating that full details were still being gathered.
Security operatives, including police and military personnel, have launched coordinated operations to track down and arrest the perpetrators.
